Q &A

Q. In three words, describe your photography.
A. Unique. Distinct. Real.

Q. What can I expect when I hire you?
A. Amazing photographs. Service. Excellent communication. You can also expect your friends to be jealous of your gorgeous wedding album.

Q. Do you travel?
A. I love to travel and would absolutely love to be a part of your destination wedding or to come to where you reside. My passport is current.

Q. How are you prepared for emergencies?
A. I carry backup equipment on the wedding day. From cameras to lenses and batteries, if something breaks or malfunctions you're covered. I even have some Tylenol in my bag if you need it. Once your wedding is documented, the digital files are backed up on-site and off-site to ensure maximum protection.

Q. How should I dress for our lifestyle session or engagement session?
A. It is usually best to wear a color that suits you well and an outfit that you know you look good in. Solids are great and photograph well. Please refrain from any clothing with logos as it detracts from the focus (you). A great idea would be to find an associate at your local boutique and have them help you coordinate an outfit. You can always bring a few outfits and we can consult before the session.

Q. How long does it take to see our photos?
A. My typical wedding processing time is 6-8 weeks. I'm sure you've heard the horror stories of 6 months or a year and no pictures. That won't happen. I have a concise workflow and I realize the attachment you have to those photos is important.

Q. What are your travel fees?
A. I charge actual travel expenses and per diem for travel days. It usually ends up being more affordable than you would think.

Q. Who and what are the major influences on your photography?
A. Fashion, lines, emotion. I draw inspiration from artists such as Dick Avedon, Peter Lindbergh, Paolo Ventura, Corinne Day, Helmut Newton, Corinne Day and Henri Cartier-Bresson. I'm inspired by images from art conscious companies like Free People, J. Crew, Rugby, John Varvatos, Anthropologie and others. I like to look for inspiration in obscurity at times. My clients definitely inspire me. I believe in conveying emotion through art.

Q. What kind of camera do you use?
A. Don't ask nerdy questions. A good one. Canon, Mamiya, Contax, Holga, Fuji.

Q. Where did you grow up?
A. I grew up primarily in the Bay Area of California (San Jose and Palo Alto) then moved to San Diego in high school. Being back in Northern California feels good.

Q. What do you like to do in your spare time?
A. I like to spend time with my family. I like to ski. I enjoy traveling. Believe it or not, I really enjoy going out and photographing interesting things in the world around me. I like to spend a nice day shopping in the city with my wife and trying out a new dining experience. When my children are older, I want to travel with them and allow them to experience the world.

Q. If you could choose one occupation outside of photography what would it be?
A. A professional surfer or a curator.

Q. Anything else?
A. I definitely owe everything that I am to God.
